Newburyport - Donnamarie A. (Riga) Hayden, age 71, of Newburyport, passed peacefully on Thursday, July 20, 2023, surrounded by her family, after a period of declining health. She was the devoted wife of Gordon A. Hayden. 
Born in Winchester, June 19, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Riga and Mary Grecco Riga and was a graduate of Winchester High School, then went on to Bryan and Stratton in Boston for Fashion Design and received an Associate's Degree from North Shore College. 
Donnamarie was a bookkeeper for her mother-in-law Dr. Lois K. Rogers in Topsfield, MA. She also worked at Newburyport High School as well as the Rupert A. Nock Middle School. 
She enjoyed taking ceramics classes, spending time in her many gardens, and sewing, but more than anything loved to cook and feed others. 
She is survived by her husband, Gordon of Newburyport; her son, Fletcher Hayden, of Newburyport; her brother Joseph Riga, sister-in-law Kimberly, and nephew Travis all of Hampton, NH, her brother Christopher Christuk, sister-in-law Amy, nephews Carson and Connor, and niece Catherine, all of Plum Island, Newbury, MA, as well as many other relatives of her husband's family.
