Janice Richardson (Snowden)

Janice Richardson (Snowden)

Janice Snowden of West Newbury passed away peacefully Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading, Mass. Her husband, Carter and her beloved children, Julia and Dan were at her side.
Born in Everett, Massachusetts, Janice was the daughter of George Richardson, a physician, and Marjorie Smith Richardson. In addition to Carter, Julia, and Dan, she leaves two sisters, Barbara Richardson of Naples Fla., and Virginia Richardson of Columbus, Ohio; and a niece, Nicole Thomas of Columbus, Ohio.
Janice was a graduate of Winchester High School and held degrees from Tufts University, the New England Baptist Hospital School of Nursing, and Boston University.
In her career as a health care professional, Janice worked as a nurse, a nursing instructor, and in a number of administrative roles in facilities in Boston and on the North Shore. Her competence and professionalism earned the respect of all who worked with her. Her easy way and humor brought an equal level of affection.
Janice’s talent as a pianist led to her meeting her husband of 34 years, Carter Snowden. Her love for her children, unbounded and unconditional, was obvious to all. She loved family summers on the Maine coast, concerts at Symphony Hall, old Columbo reruns, and MahJong.
Janice was diagnosed with stage four ovarian cancer in early 2014. Her struggle was difficult, and she faced it with grace, dignity and courage. She will be terribly missed by her many friends and family.
